‘Now I have a job!’ Public library ICT training is changing lives in Uganda
Since 2021, the ‘Digital Skills @ your local library’ project has worked with 27 libraries in Uganda and trained over 50 librarians and volunteers - enabling them to teach vital digital skills to women and youth in their communities.
In two years:
10,000 people have been trained to use computers, the internet and mobile devices.
* Over 900 people participated in learning circles, using online courses and videos to boost employment prospects and skills.
* Public and community libraries in Uganda continue digital skills training, helping more people to find better jobs, improve their academic results, create new ways to generate income and start entrepreneurial initiatives.
The project is implemented by EIFL, Maendeleo Foundation, National Library of Uganda and P2PU. The project is funded by Belgium through the Wehubit Programme implemented by the Belgian development agency, Enabel.
